Along the same lines,, one thing I have found is that you can use drapery hardware pieces in the area your working with in spots other than just on the window. Parts such as tiebacks and hold-backs may be hung just about anywhere to hang tapestries or other design elements.  Since you can buy the parts in wood or metal style you can install them with any project regardless of what style design you need so they are perfect for any home improvement project.
